ART DOCENT
Thank you for volunteering to be an Art Docent! Your time and creativity help make art a special part of our students’ experience at Placer. We appreciate you sharing your time with our classrooms!
BOOKING THE ART ROOM
To help keep scheduling simple for our teachers and office staff, please follow these steps when planning your Art Docent dates:
-
Choose a consistent schedule
Whenever possible, select a recurring day and time for your class—for example, the first Monday of each month or the second Tuesday of each month. Consistent schedules are much easier for teachers and the office to coordinate than different days and times each month.
-
Check the school calendar
Before selecting your dates, check the Placer Elementary Events Calendar. Switch the calendar to Month View so you can quickly see whether the Art Room has already been reserved for your preferred dates and times.
-
Confirm with your teacher
Once you’ve identified available dates, confirm the dates and times with your classroom teacher.
-
Submit your dates to the office
Before contacting the office, please make sure you have checked the calendar AND received confirmation from your teacher. Once confirmed, email Kristie (kwittenberg@loomis-usd.k12.ca.us) in the office with your complete list of Art Docent dates and times for the school year. She will add your reservations to the school calendar.

INTERESTED IN TEACHING A CERAMIC'S LESSON?
The kiln has a separate reservation calendar and is not booked through the online school calendar. If your project requires the kiln, please visit the school office to review the kiln calendar and reserve your dates.
Because ceramics projects require kiln scheduling, drying time, glazing, and two separate firings, they take a little more advance planning than a typical art lesson. Before getting started, please review the Ceramics & Kiln Instructions below for everything you need to know about reserving the kiln, planning your project, working with clay and glaze, and firing your finished pieces.
